Make Valentine's Day special
Set the mood on Valentine's Day with live jazz piano
I'll play a selection of fabulous instrumental love songs from throughout the years, to set the romantic mood for your event. Great for your restaurant, bar or hotel. Instrumental music works well in many situations, providing great atmosphere without being intruvise or over the top.
There's so many great charts from jazz and easy listening history, your guests will love the atmosphere! It doesn't need to be slow ballads all night though. There are plenty of upbeat numbers that fit the bill too. And perhaps a couple of quirky takes on well-known songs done in a different style, to surprise and delight those who spot them!

Benefits of live music?
Click to read more...Science has proved the positive effects of live music on sales of food and drink.
- Style of music. Classy-sounding music persuades people to think of a higher quality environment, and will likely spend more.
- Instrumental music is more discreet. People know the pleasant sound of a piano - no surprises, generally! But singers? can vary wildly, and if you happen to be stuck with a singer you don't like for your evening... Instrumental keeps everyone on board.
- Gentler, slow-paced music is generally better for setting the ambience. And if people like the ambience, they'll have a more enjoyable time (and come back again!). For a Valentine's playlist, I'd favour gentler, slow-paced music at least 75% of the time, as this is the vibe that works.
On the playlist would be:
- A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square
- Made popular by Dame Vera Lynn, this is a simple, sentimental love song that recounts the circumstances of the first meeting of two lovers in Berkeley Square, Mayfair, London.
- As Time Goes By
- A simple reminder that love always wins.
- Can't Help Falling In Love
- This Elvis number just keeps on giving. Love happens so quickly, sometimes...
- Fly Me To The Moon
- A deeply-felt love expressed in the most memorable metaphors of mid 20th century jazz.
- Can You Feel The Love Tonight
- The heat-stroke rush of the day fades away when you are with the right person.
- You Do Something To Me
- Cole Porter explores the hypnotic power of love in this 1930s classic.
- Beauty and the Beast
- A classic Disney number that brings a tear to even the most beastly eye.
- I Should Be So Lucky - Kylie Minogue
- Transformed into a ballad, this number goes down really well with people who love a bit of sentimentality.... but also a good 80s banger!
- And So It Goes - Billy Joel
- Some argue this is all about a break up, but plenty interpret it as facing up to the realities of a relationship - partnership, communication and offering up compromise.
- ...and plenty more!
